A Tribute to Alan Hovhaness
A free concert dedicated to the eminent composer (1911 -2000) who grew up in Arlington, MA and whose career spanned seven decades.
We will be performing Komitas Portrait (2021) written by Pasquale Tassone, long-time Director of Music in the Arlington Public School systems, and one-time collaborator with Alan Hovhannes.
The concert is part of the Armenian Cultural Foundation and Mirak Chamber Music series.

This unique musical program honors and celebrates the lives of immigrants, refugees, and other displaced people, weaving together songs and melodies from Armenia and the Balkan Peninsula with new compositions and arrangements. Featuring Daniela Tosic, mezzo-soprano; Sylvie Zakarian, marimba; and music by Gomidas Vartabed, Alan Hovhaness, Neil Grover, Dobri Paliev, and Nikola Radan.
Suggested donation of $20 to benefit the Cambridge Legal Defense Fund for Immigrants.
A Festival of Sound
Winter concert of the Reading Symphony Orchestra.
Ms. Zakarian will be the featured artist, playing “Dzon”, an homage to Alan Hovhanness written by Pasquale Tassone.
Other works include Dvorák Carnival Overture, and Symphony No. 4 in E Minor by Brahms.
Tickets are $15 Adult or $10 for Student/Seniors, and are available at the door. Children under 14 are free to attend.
